RECORD

RECORD module has several screens that allow user to search for cases and samples as well as record or edit information regarding  existing cases and samples.

Users can record sample information in their preferred language, regardless of what language is used for the user interface. Data input screens are designed to minimize data input errors and laid out to reflect the users' standard forms.​

RECORD module also offers Remote Sample Collection - Sample Registration from collection centres including Police stations, prisons, detention centre, immigration, etc.

Features include:
  • Unique (bar code) ID for each location
  • Custom design Sample Registration Page per user requirements
  • Bar codes sticker print out  to be attached to sample containers
  • Data will be automatically transferred to rapidDNA at HQ via secured internet connection after complete registration
  • Each district will be able to view matching results on screen

EXAMINE

EXAMINE module is a tool to record information about sample examination and create sub samples for further examination.

Users can also run screening test such as Alkaline Phosphatase (AP) test, Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA) test, etc.

PROCESS

PROCESS module is a tool to track samples and record information at all stages of the DNA laboratory process from sampling to genotyping.

Functionality can range from simple manually entered sample tracking data to sophisticated LIMS functions including a high level of laboratory automation and instrument interfaces.

DESTRUCT

DESTRUCT module allows users to completely remove sample (and relevant) information. While sample specific information is removed from the system, sample number is still retained so that it can be used later for reporting.

CALL

User has an option to choose between rapidCALL and GeneMarker® HID when making a purchase.

CALL module provides a second Allele calling software that  automates allele calling process of raw data (.FSA or .HID files) from Genetic Analyser for a single profile or a batch of profiles as input.

rapidCALL (developed in-house) can process genetic analyser data from any commercially available kits and if desired, custom or home brew kits can be added on request. Authorised users have total control over allele calling rules. This makes it possible to use different sets of rules to optimise the processing of different types of samples. For example, allele designation of single source samples of consistent quality could be processed automatically while allele calls for crime samples might require more review by the user.​

GeneMarker® HID human identity software is a NDIS Approved Expert System. In addition to standard STR analysis, GeneMarker® HID software has been optimised to analyze profiles from Y-STRs, Low Copy Number LCN samples, ABI's MiniFiler™ Kit, and replicate sample consensus.

QA

QA module provides several quality assurance checks once profiles have been obtained.
 â€‹
It is recommended that the genotype is compared against that obtained by another analyst or system from the same sample (as recommended in ISO 17025 for legal testing lab).
  • Raw data from Genetic Analyser are analysed by the first analyst using GeneMapper IDX (Thermo Fisher Scientific) and generate PROFILE A
  • The same raw data are analysed by the second analyst using rapidCALL or GeneMarker® HID  software and generate PROFILE B
  • Both PROFILE A and PROFILE B are compared in QA module to generate PROFILE C
  • Once the genotype has been confirmed – if necessary by a third analyst – batches can be checked for contamination due to e.g. spillover
If the laboratory has established an elimination database with profiles of laboratory workers and crime scene attending personnel, profiles – especially mixed profiles – can also be checked against those for accidental contamination.​

MANAGE

MANAGE module provides users with options for profiles deposition.

While users are able to carry out the actions listed above, none will be finalised until the Confirm Profile has been carried out by authorised person.​

MATCH

MATCH module provides a variety of functions to match profiles from different categories and for different purposes. The highly optimized matching algorithms ensure a high stringency match can be found in less than 5 seconds in a database with one Million profiles.

Available matching criteria and results are optimized to suit the different matching options available.

The match stringency can also be varied to allow for anomalies in the profiles or to search for potential relatives.​

REPORT

REPORT module provides easy access to a variety of parameter driven reports and also allows the user to manage reports.

​Report format can be designed/customised to suit specific jurisdictional needs. It can be exported as MS WORD or pdf.

SECURITY

SECURITY module provides a range of administration features enabling individual users or groups of users to be granted various degrees of access to the different modules that make up the rapidDNA system.

The SECURITY module also enables the System Administrator to reset user passwords and maintain a list of details of “Persons responsible”

INSTRUMENT

INSTRUMENT module allows rapidDNAto connect/integrate with laboratory equipment, barcode readers and printers.

Standard features include:
  • Set up and manage instruments, robots and other lab equipment
  • Design, schedule and perform instrument maintenance tasks. All information is recorded and maintenance results can be reviewed
  • Automate routine tasks such as allocation, verification and instrument status checks to streamline lab processing

INVENTORY module : Lab Inventory and Storage Management​
  • Barcode compatible
  • Sample and container tracking
  • Stock supply and reagent management, re-order alerts
  • Storage capacity and location management
  • Freezer management
The system manages stock supplies and reagents, as well as assigns automatic re-order alerts. Storage capacity across facilities is easily located which can also store the environmental requirements for solutions, reagents, samples etc. to ensure that they remain in proper conditions.
